Angela is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, management and control of the corporation’s financial activities. She has more than 18 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance.
Angela started at Chugach in 1998 as a senior accountant to coordinate the external audit, research and resolve issues related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), oversee the financial system and manage the general ledger, accounts payable, tax and payroll related functions. Promoted to assistant controller, controller, vice president of finance and executive vice president of finance over a 15-year period, she has overseen the growth of a financial system and staff from managing $14 million in assets to a corporation operating in multiple states with more than $360 million in assets, while still maintaining a high level of staff morale and financial integrity.
As a key member of the executive management team, Angela holds a strategic role in the overall development and execution of the corporation’s strategic direction. She acts an advisor to the subsidiary presidents, group vice presidents executive team members and Board of Directors. In addition, she serves as a trustee of the 401k, trustee of the Shareholder Trust and a member of the Management Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Chugach, Angela worked at Deloitte and Touche as a senior auditor serving a variety of clients including Alaska Native corporations, banking institutions, school districts and a variety of for-profit organizations.
Angela has served as a volunteer for Big Brothers and Sisters and has been the finance representative for her church board of directors and a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement.
Angela holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and a master’s degree in accountancy from the University of Montana. She has been a certified public accountant in Alaska since 1997 and is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Financial Executives International and the Alaska Society of CPAs. In 2012, Angela obtained the AICPA’s new Chartered Global Management Accountant designation.
