Chugach Alaska Corporation Appoints Chugach Commercial Holdings President Josie Hickel
(Anchorage, Alaska) – Chugach Alaska Corporation (Chugach) appointed Josie Hickel as its President of Chugach Commercial Holdings (CCH), effective December 8, 2018. In her new role, Hickel is responsible for directing Chugach’s portfolio of commercial businesses and land development strategy.
“Chugach is fortunate to have a leader with Josie’s expertise and vision as our next President of Chugach Commercial Holdings,” said Chugach CEO Gabriel Kompkoff. “The Board and executive team are confident in her ability to lead our portfolio of commercial companies and land development projects, while also building our culture and making Chugach a great place to work.”
Hickel is a Chugach shareholder with more than three decades of experience working in Alaska for a range of commercial companies. Since joining Chugach in 2016 as Senior Vice President of Energy and Resources for CCH, she has achieved a number of milestones within the division. Hickel facilitated Chugach’s Bering River coal rights transaction and carbon offset project; and has helped stabilize our energy services companies in a challenging economic environment.
Hickel is also an active community advocate, serving as Board member and volunteer for several nonprofits including the Alaska Sealife Center, Prince William Sound Regional Citizens Advisory Council and the Alaska Support Industry Alliance. She was inducted into the Athena Society in 2012 for outstanding leadership in both business and community service.
“One of Chugach’s core behaviors is ‘We build community,’ which Josie embodies in her daily actions,” said Kompkoff. “We are confident that under her direction, CCH will continue to grow and thrive as we focus on creating a customer-centric culture supported by strong employee engagement and innovation.”
Hickel has a bachelor’s degree in business management and human resources. She also holds certifications in both Senior and Global Professional of Human Resources.
